Not all of them, certainly, but the majority of Japanese cars are narrow and small, with little donut wheels that are smaller than an American spare tire. So, in addition to driving on the left side of the road, navigating a city we don’t know, and just hoping to God we’re driving the correct direction down narrow side streets after passing unrecognizable street signs, I’m often distracted as well by these cute little vehicles that look like shiny new wave Matchbox cars you could pick up and put in your pocket. A Texas truck wouldn’t even fit down some of the roads here, so the vehicles suit the area, and sometimes it’s cramped to the point that one person must stop so the other can go. Then we bow to each other from behind the driver’s seat (for real, it’s a thing here) and then carry on our way in our little Japanese cars. Vroom vroom!
